Best Kiev Train Station Travel Guide
Kiev currently has one central train station, which is divided by a bridge into the Kiev central station and southern station. Both are located in the city center and are the main artery for connection Kiev to the rest of Ukraine by railroad. From here you will be able to travel to any international destination as well, including Moscow, Warsaw, Minsk and Krakow.
The official name of the station is “Kyiv Pasazhyrskyi”. The short-code for this station is Kyiv-Pas. Use this code for when you plan to book your train tickets online.
Finding the station is not that difficult as they are located in the city center. There is the “old” station which is the central station and on the south side there is the “modern” station, called southern station. You can recognize the southern station by the big glass windows and a KFC restaurant, which is located in the front.
The Kiev central station has a McDonald’s in front of the main entrance and only a few small push doors to get inside.
How to get there from the airport?
I highly recommend to book a private transfer. You can actually do this 5 euro cheaper compared to the SkyTaxi without any hassle. You can also book your transfer from your hotel back to Boryspil Airport right away.
Cost are 20 Euro.
- Enjoy the privacy of a transfer just for you and your group and arrive at your destination stress free
- Avoid the hassle of waiting in line for a taxi or navigating public transportation
- Have different vehicles available in top visual and technical condition for the number of passengers
- Get attentive service from professional drivers, including baggage and door assistance
Bus or Taxi
Because the airport is located far from the city centre it is important to find the right transportation when you leave the airport. We recommend you either taking an official SkyTaxi (cost around 800 UAH, 25 Euro) or the SkyBus (80 UAH, 3 Euro). The bus departs every 20 minutes and during the night every 30 minutes. It takes about 45-minutes (35km) to get to Kiev Central Station
Buying your tickets
Booking a train ticket for your travels through Ukraine is actually very easy. You can visit the official website Booking.UA and buy your ticket online. First, change the language settings to English and select the route you wish to travel.
You can always buy your tickets at the station. When you enter the south-side you will see all the ticket offices on your left side. I do recommend buying your tickets online as they work extremely slow and speak very little English.
There are restrooms available, but to be honest these are pretty old and dirty. If you really have to go I would either use the McDonald’s or the KFC. Much cleaner!
